A short history / Blackburn, Lancashire
Fueltek Limited was incorporated on 7 February 2001. The purpose was practical from the beginning: make commercial fuel control clearer, more accountable and easier to operate.
From Blackburn, that idea grew through secure identification, controlled dispensing and dependable transaction records. The physical event at the pump became information an operator could understand and act upon.
As communications developed, Fueltek connected sites to browser-based reporting, multi-site oversight and tank intelligence. The system became broader, but the principle stayed the same: solve the real operational problem and support it for the long term.

Fueltek is incorporated in Blackburn with a clear purpose: make commercial fuel easier to control and account for. From the beginning, the work connects engineering detail to the everyday reality of the operating site.
Identification, controlled dispensing and stored transactions establish the connection between the person, vehicle and fuel issued. That dependable record gives operators a clearer way to manage access and accountability.
Fueltek FMO extends the system into connected reporting for users, vehicles, transactions, stock and multiple operating sites. Fuel information can move beyond the depot and become something a wider team can review and act upon.
Tankwatch adds stock, ullage, delivery and alarm information, giving operators another view of the fuel under their control. Tank intelligence complements transaction records and helps the complete site tell a clearer story.
Fueltek enters employee ownership, placing the next chapter with the people who design, develop, build, install, sell and support its systems. No single department keeps the business moving; the strength is how the whole team works together.
A quarter-century after incorporation, Fueltek continues to develop practical hardware, software and support around real working sites. The technology changes; the standard remains: understand the requirement and make the complete system work.

Ours began with a simple belief.
Fuel should be easier to control.25 years. Millions of litres. One continuous idea.
Fueltek grew around a practical belief: storage, dispensing, identification, monitoring, reporting, installation and support work better when they are considered as one operating system.

Fueltek Limited was incorporated in England on 7 February 2001. Martin Devine and Mark Pemberton joined the board in October that year.
Companies House source ↗The problem was not simply moving fuel from a tank into a vehicle. It was knowing who used it, what received it, how much moved and what the operation could learn afterwards.
Commercial refuelling depended on physical equipment, local records and manual checks. Fueltek began by treating control and information as part of the same engineering problem.
Commercial operators needed stronger control over fuel drawn from their own sites.
Hardware and records could be fragmented, making accountability harder than it needed to be.
Build control equipment around the transaction, not only the pump.
A company that could keep developing the physical system and the information around it.
Fueltek's public record establishes the 2001 starting point. The project archive confirms the direction that followed: Fuel Access Control Terminals at the fuelling location, identification methods, transaction storage and communication with browser-based reporting.
Where early photographs or launch records are not available, this page deliberately uses verified documents, era labels and reconstructed scenes rather than assigning invented dates to products.
Building it ourselves
If we can build it, we can improve it.
Fueltek's documented approach is to design, develop, manufacture, install and service the complete system. That creates room to adapt equipment around a site rather than forcing the site around a standard box.
The complete package starts with the operating requirement: tank capacity, dispensing rate, users, vehicles, identification, reporting, communications and support. Fueltek can then decide what should be retained, integrated, upgraded or replaced.
That joined-up responsibility is what turns a group of components into one serviceable operating system.
The hardware evolves
A dedicated control terminal can bring authorisation and transaction recording to compatible existing dispensing equipment.
User, vehicle or asset identification connects the physical dispense to information that can be reviewed later.
The FT4000AP combines fuel management controls with an integrated pump and meter.
Twin and purpose-built variants support different site layouts, fuel types and dispensing demands.
High-speed configurations extend the same controlled workflow into environments where throughput matters.
Product generations describe the documented range and engineering progression. No unverified launch years have been assigned.
The FT4000 family is built around Fuel Access Control Terminal functionality at the fuelling location. The project literature describes local transaction storage, user and vehicle identification, pump control, configurable memory and communication with Fueltek FMO.
The family expands that principle across standalone control, integrated dispensing, twin dispensing, high-speed operation and managed AdBlue equipment.
From dispensing to knowing
Fuel moves from stored stock into a vehicle or asset.
The configured system associates the dispense with authorised details.
Date, time, site, pump, volume and relevant user or vehicle fields become searchable.
Managers can review activity, investigate exceptions and understand usage more clearly.
The exact record depends on the project configuration, but the existing Fueltek material documents driver, fueller and vehicle details, transaction history, stock control, date and time filtering, MPG-related fields and exportable reports.
The important development was not collecting numbers for their own sake. It was making a physical event accountable and reviewable.
Fuel Manager Online
A manager no longer had to be standing beside the equipment to understand what was happening.
Fuel information could travel.The forecourt became connected.By 2013, Fueltek was publicly describing FMO as the interface connecting fuel transactions and Tankwatch information. The surviving project literature documents a true browser-based application for remote, multi-site and multi-user access.
2013 Fueltek source ↗Fueltek FMO communicates with Fuel Access Control Terminals to download and process transactions. Its documented capabilities include user administration, reporting, stock control, remote browser access, multi-site operation and controlled permissions.
That changed the scale of the system. The useful view of a depot could exist beyond the depot itself.
The tank gains a voice
The transaction explains what left through the pump. Tankwatch adds an independent view of what is inside the storage tank.
Calibrated probes and a local control panel turn liquid level into stock, ullage, deliveries, throughputs and alarm information. It can operate independently or become another connected layer in the Fueltek system.
The product literature describes Tankwatch as suitable for new installations and straightforward retrofits to existing tanks. It can display stock locally, support delivery checks, detect unusual stock movements, provide audible and visual alarms and connect to remote reporting.
This was the move from transaction control toward stock intelligence and reconciliation.
When the parts connect
FT4000Identification, dispensing, stored stock, transactions, reporting, sites and support become one connected operational view.
Fueltek can review compatible pumps, tanks and site infrastructure to determine what can remain part of a proposed system. The responsible answer may be integration, retrofit, upgrade or replacement - based on evidence from the site.
A complete Fueltek package can combine tank storage, pumps, access control, identification, Tankwatch, FMO reporting, communications, installation, commissioning and support. The specification starts with how the operation actually uses fuel.
This ecosystem view also makes upgrades more practical: a compatible part of the existing installation can be retained while control, visibility or reporting is improved around it.

Fueltek project material spans haulage, retail distribution, utilities, rail, emergency services, airports, manufacturing and specialist mobile applications.

The names shown here appear in existing Fueltek project assets and literature. The page does not invent installation dates, savings or performance figures. Customer-specific outcomes should be published only where the technical detail, image, wording and quotation have been approved.
One documented example is Cobo Tankers, where Fueltek adapted FT4000 and Tankwatch equipment for mounting on tankers and shipment to Spain for integration by Cobo's engineers.

Fueltek Employee-Ownership Trustee Limited became the person with significant control of Fueltek Limited, holding 75% or more of shares and voting rights. The change placed continuity and the company's next chapter into an employee-ownership structure.

The ownership change is presented as continuity, not a corporate ending. The engineering knowledge, support relationships and responsibility for the systems remain grounded in the people doing the work.
That matters because hardware can be specified once; dependable service is delivered repeatedly over the life of the installation.
